Independent verifiers

For the verification of emissions from stationary installations as well as for the verification of emissions and tonne kilometer data from aviation activities, independent verifiers must be accredited in accordance with §14 of the Austrian Emissions Allowances Act (EZG) 2011 as amended.

Verifiers must register in the Austrian part of the Union Register (verifier account) in order to be able to enter and confirm verified emissions in the accounts of those installation or aircraft operators for which they are nominated as the responsible verifier.

The emissions from the operators (installation and aircraft operators) covered by emissions trading are determined at the end of each calendar year and checked by an independent verifier.

By March 31, the verified emissions for the previous calendar year are to be entered and confirmed by the authorized representatives of a verifier account in the respective operator accounts in the Austrian part of the Union Registry.

Open verifier accounts can be retrieved in the European Union Transaction Log (EUTL):

1. Calling the website of the EUTL

2. Select the “Accounts” menu item under ETS on the left side

3. Now search for a company under “Account Holder Name” (use * if the information is incomplete)

4. Alternatively, filter by the desired country and account type (select “Verifier Account”)

5. To view the current account status (open or closed), please select “Details” on the right and note the “Account Status”

Detailed information about accreditations may be retrieved through the website of Accreditation Austria through their database application to query publicly available information on accredited conformity assessment bodies.
