Allocation for Aircraft Operators 2017
Due to process-related delays on European level the Austrian Emissions Trading Registry could perform – like in any other country, which participate in the EU-Emission Trading Scheme – the allocation for aircraft operators in April instead of end of February; in Austria it has been performed on 11th April 2017.
In between there is a proposal from the European Commission in form of a Regulation to continue current limitations of scope for aviation activities within the EEA (COM(2017) 54 final as of 3.2.2017), which will justify the allocation of “reduced scope”. In order to prevent the return of excess allocation, allocation will be done with “reduced scope” prior to entry into force of the regulation, hence the same amount as 2016. This approach is done in accord between the European Commission and the Member States.
